Saturday's significantly more difficult course.
Fine-tuning his frontrunning skills, Chris Berry performed dependably again for the Bucks, placing 3rd overall with a near PR of 16:12. The herd that followed has people talking: usual suspects AJ Morgan and Rock Fortna finished in 17:07 (26th) and 17:08 (27th). But, the game-changer for the
Bucks was the enormous effort by 4th-6th men Baylor Griffin (17:15, 29th), Brian Iatarola (17:16, 31st), and Will Bone (17:21, 37th). Senior Jimmie Kilgannon followed with a season best of 17:38 to place 51st. The Bucks scored 116 points to place 2nd as a team and take home a sizeable trophy. Hosts Council Rock North (PA #8) won with 50 points. Other noteworthy scores included: 3rd
Penncrest (defeated CR North earlier this season) 130, 4th Pennridge 137, 6th CR South 154, 9th Souderton 223, 10th Quakertown 231.
Council Rock North and CB West also went 1-2 in the team scoring for the JV race. While North ran away with it, West narrowly edged Downingtown East by a score of 98-102 for second out of 20
schools. Austin Kline and Ben Severn earned medals for their efforts. Kline kicked himself into 10th place with a season best of 18:06, while Severn was just 10 seconds behind in 13th place overall.
Freshmen Declan McDonald, Logan Mazullo, Carter Zerweck, and Brendan Warren ran equally inspired in the freshmen race. McDonald earned the distinguished priviledge of breaking the tape, as he battled relentlessly with Twin Valley's Mark Matthews for the win. McDonald pulled away in the final 800 meters to put his stamp on the race, finishing 1st in 18:13.
The Bucks return to action on Wednesday for their final home dual meet of the season against CB South and Hatboro-Horsham.
