Despite temperatures in the mid 30's and a steady rain, the CB West Boys' track & field team had a dominating performance with a 104-46 win over Souderton. The cold rainy conditions did not stop senior Connor Manley from running his second district qualifying performace in the 400 meter dash this week. His time of 51.0 secures him a place at the District I Championships. The win marks a 2-0 start to the season. The Bucks will head to their first invitational of the spring season on Saturday at Council Rock North.

On a cold and windy day, the CB West Boys' Track & Field team opened up its season against CB South with a 96-54 victory. The meet was highlighted by Rashaad Williams' record breaking peformance in the 100 meter dash. His time of 10.6 seconds was a tenth of a second faster the the previous 11 year old record. Williams also won the 200 in 22.1 and anchored the 4x100 meter relay with Dan Ernst, Bill Bell, and Greg Branch. All three performances are district qualifying times. Dan Ernst also hit the district qualifying time in the 100 meter dash in a time of 10.9 seconds. Joining Ernst as a district qualifier is teammate Corey Smith who jumped a district qualifying height and personal best 13 feet in the pole vault, Connor Manley and Mike May running 49.9 and 51.0 seconds respectively in the 400 meter dash, and Matt Sutorius in the 110 Meter High Hurdles with a time of 15.1 seconds. CB West will look to avenge a 98-52 loss to CB South when the two met last year. The meet begins a highly anticipated season for the Bucks coming off a third place finish in the overall team standings at the indoor track & field state championships a month ago. The gun goes off for the first event at 3:30 PM at CB West's War Memorial Stadium.

The Pennsylvania Track & Field Coaches Association selected the 2011 All State Indoor Track & Field Team on March 7 taking consideration of honors won, quality and consistency of performance and head to head competition. Central Bucks West was represented by all three relays and one individual performance. The 2011 4x800 state champions and Pennsylvania record holders of Mike May, Matt McGarvey, Matt Bee, and Connor Manley were awarded First Team All State. Dan Ernst, who finished second place at the state meet only to US #1 Matt Gilmore, was awarded Second Team All State. Finally the 4x400 meter relay of Mike May, Matt McGarvey, Matt Bee, and Connor Manley were also awarded Honorable Mention for their fourth place performance at the state championship as well as the 4x200 meter relay of Dan Ernst, Ben Smith, Greg Branch, and Rashaad Williams. After an historical record breaking 2011 Indoor Track season, the Central Bucks West boy's spring track team will look to continue its success into the spring coming of a third place finish in the team standings at this weekends Indoor State Championship. The outdoor track season will begin practice this Friday, March 4, right after school. We will begin the season with the first annual Track & Field Combine. This will test all skills of a true athlete, including the 40 yard dash, bench press, broad jump, pull-ups, speed ladder, and more. All are encouraged to attend.
