In just three of the 18 events, the Bucks' throwers scored half of the Bucks' points, as they came away from the their events with a score of 25-2. In the shotput, Cory Radkins had a big PR and a district-qualifying mark of 48-9, followed by Ian Fortna's 42-4 to claim first and second. In the discus, Cory Greenberg earned his first win of the season, leading a sweep of the Knights with the help of Fortna and John Williams. In the final throw of the day, Will Fernandez and Jackson Butkus piled on another 1-2 punch in the javelin. Fernandez threw 150-1 in his winning effort.
Chris Berry gave West the lead as the first leg of the 4x800, then returned to win both the mile and two-mile races.
Shawn Young earned a pair of 2nd place finishes in the hurdle races.
AJ Morgan returned from a 2:04.6 4x800 leg to post a season-best 2:02.1 open 800. In the best race of the day, Morgan set the pace from the start and fought down the home straightaway to take the race in the final meters.
Josh Haschets took 3rd in the 100 meter dash, while DhungHa Kim turned heads in the second heat with his 11.5 second performance.
Austin Kline returned from his 1:58.9 anchor of the 4x800 relay and strong 3rd leg of the 4x100 relay to post a 23.2 200 meter dash, good enough for 3rd.
Freshman Rock Fortna posted another 2:01.4 split as he kept the Bucks neck-and-neck in a showdown of two of the decade's best PA 4x800 programs.
In the pole vault, sophomore Josh Bazzano cleared a PR of 11'6", while fellow young Buck Jason Douple cleared 12'0" to earn 3rd.
In the long jump, junior Jamie Valdez earned bronze with his 19-foot jump.
Freshman Brian Iatarola tied his PR and set a season best as he earned 4th in the high jump with his 5-8 clearance, the best of any Buck this season!
The Bucks return to action at the Helman Invititational at Pennridge on Thursday night.
