In his finest race since his school record setting 9:23 3200m run at the District Championships in May, Chris Berry defeated North Penn's Jack of all trades MaCauley for the overall win with his fastest 5000 meters yet, 16:08. MaCauley, followed by teammate Ryan Grace placed 2nd and 3rd in 16:10 and 16:32. West followed North Penn's top two with two more of it's own: senior AJ Morgan with a jaw-dropping 43-second PR to place 4th in 16:52, and freshman Rock Fortna who displayed his track skills and general gutsiness as he finished 5th overall in 17:00.
North Penn then piled in it's 3rd through 6th runners in 6th-9th overall. Fellow West freshman Brian
Iatarola followed as the Buck's 4th man, placing 10th overall with a massive PR of 17:28. North Penn's 7th and 8th men followed, just ahead of West's 5th-7th men: sophomore Baylor Griffin (17:40, 13th) and seniors Will Bone (17:41, 14th) and Jimmie Kilgannon (17:44, 15th).
Freshman Declan McDonald (17:54, 19th), sophomore Ben Severn (18:01, 21st), senior Austin Kline
(18:15, 23rd), and sophomore Pat Kelly (18:17, 24th) kept the good times rolling afterward.
In what can only be described as a PR assault, of the 30 Bucks who raced on Thursday, 27 raced to season bests and 23 raced to lifetime bests.
The Bucks will keep their foot on the gas on Saturday at the Council Rock North Invitational at
Tyler State Park.
