Berry's 17:27 debut makes him the 62nd returning runner in Pennsylvania's AAA classification as well as the 20th returning runner in District One's large schools race. Most impressively, Berry placed in the top 27% of the field in the AA and AAA merged results. Berry was 153rd out of 567 of Pennsylvania's best cross-country competitors.
All five of District One's qualifying teams placed in the top ten teams amongst 24 of Pennsylvania's best teams. West's only dual meet loss this year turned out to be to the eventual State Champions of North Penn. North Penn defeated favored Cardinal O'Hara by virtue of the Knight's 6th man finishing in front of O'Hara's sixth man. Hatboro-Horsham's Connor Quinn, the Suburban One League Continental Conference Champion, won the individual State Championship with a time of 16:03.
West sophomore standout Meghan Iatarola and junior Gretchen Krause placed 63rd and 112th, respectively. Pennsbury ran away with the girls team title with just 42 points. North Penn's Meghan McGovern won the individual championship in an impressive 18:28.
In a rare WestTrackXC interview opportunity, Berry's deep voice only said, "I'll be back."
