Coming up with clutch PRs despite soaked spikes and high humidity were senior Ben Smith (17:40), juniors Austin Kline (18:35) and Graham Thomas (18:44), and freshman Ben Severn (19:03), Patrick Kelly (20:31), and Jake Doherty (21:39).
The Bucks top five today posted the best spread in the past six years of varsity competition, a finite 49 seconds! Leading the way were Alex Predhome (4th), Chris Berry (5th), Nico Metzler (6th), Rob Mitchell (9th), and Ben Smith (11th). Mitchell and Smith put up big races, both just seconds from bettering their PRs.
Junior Jimmie Kilgannon (13th, 17:53) earned the pleasant surprise of the day, putting himself 6th amongst the Bucks and more importantly finishing ahead of Hatboro-Horsham's fifth runner as well as Souderton's 4th and 5th runners. Kilgannon's high finish as West's sixth man single-handedly added a point to Hatboro's score and two points to Souderton's score.
West impressed with 15 gold uniforms flying in the top 30 places amongst the three schools, leaving room for just eight Hatters and seven Indians in the top 30. West's 7th - 15th men were Austin Kline (19th), Baylor Griffin (20th), Graham Thomas (22nd), Eric Zoleski (24th), Brandon Ciliberto (26th), Ben Severn (27th), Will Bone (28th), Ben Aunins (29th), and AJ Morgan (30th).
The Bucks return to action next Wednesday at 3:30 pm at North Penn. There, they will face Quakertown's Panthers (0-4) and North Penn's Knights (4-0) in the battle of the unbeatens of the Suburban One League Continental Conference.
