The Novice boys placed third out of 11 schools with a 59-second 1-5 spread, outpacing Pennridge, Wissahickon, Council Rock North, Harriton, and CB East, all solid programs. Freshman Baylor Griffin lead the way with a 5th place finish at 11:37 in the 2.1 mile race. Also finishing in the top quarter of the race were juniors Eric Grznekowski (20th) and Austin Kline (21st) and freshman Ian Davies (23rd), Sean Bristow (28th), and Ben Severn (31st).
West's JV athletes placed sixth out of 15 teams with just five runners and no room for error, ahead of rivals Pennridge, Penncrest, and Hatboro-Horsham. All five runners placed in the top third of the field, lead by Jimmie Kilgannon's 4th place finish with a huge PR of 17:48.41! Not far behind were teammates Eric Zoleski (29th), Brandon Ciliberto (35th), Graham Thomas (36th), and Steve Bohnel (49th).
West's varsity did not disappoint, placing fifth out of a remarkably strong field of 17 teams, beating Pennridge, Hatboro-Horsham, Pennsbury, Wissahickon, and others. Notably, Hatboro-Horsham was featured on Penntrackxc.com as one of Pennsylvania's top ten teams this season. Nico Metzler (16th, 16:26), Alex Predhome (18th, 16:36), and Chris Berry (20th, 16:41) led the way with a solid 1-2-3 punch. Close behind were Rob Mitchell (42nd, 17:22), Ben Aunins (59th, 17:45), and Ben Smith (60th, 17:48.10), and Anthony Soares (95th, 19:09). Metzler, Predhome, Berry, Mitchell, Aunins, and Soares all broke their previous personal records in the process, showing that they step-up when the bright lights come on.
