In the two mile novice race, sophomore newbie John Smith (6th, 11:44) and freshman Jack McCausland (14th, 12:09) earned hardware. Classmate Ben Sexauer and senior Evan Henrich also placed in the top half of the field, finishing 28th and 32nd, respectively. The novice Bucks placed 5th out of 11 teams.
Central Bucks East and West dominated the JV field, allowing only 1 non-CB runner into the top 11 overall. East won with just 22 points, while West earned 36, and the rest of the field had over 100 points each. West placed five runners in the top 10 overall in the 130-man field. Junior Logan Mazullo led the way for the Bucks, pacing with the front group and claiming 4th overall in 18:09. Mark McClenahan continued his impressive start to his sophomore year by coming in 5th overall just three seconds later. Senior Tyler Press (7th, 18:25) and sophomores Teagan Fortna (9th, 18:43) and Alec Hofer (10th, 18:46) closed out a phenomenal 35-second 1-5 spread.
Sixth man junior Carter Zerweck (14th, 18:52) and 7th man senior Matt Belding (18th, 19:00) also earned plaques for their top-25 finishes in the JV race. Also finishing in the top half of the field for the Bucks were senior Troy Press (32nd), junior Ryan McIlhinney (40th), senior Matt Bahner (45th), and sophomore Stephen Bolton (62nd). Sophomore Joe Manetta and freshman Michael Samson posted a shiny new PRs of 21:17 and 22:19 to boot.
The crescendo continued as the varsity Bucks took center stage. Junior Rock Fortna did some fine frontrunning to place 3rd overall in 16:46, while teammates sophomore Brian Mass (7th, 17:10), junior Declan McDonald (8th, 17:11), senior Ian Davies (13th, 17:31), and junior Brian Iatarola (14th, 17:32) poured in close behind. Senior Ben Severn (21st, 17:45) also earned a plaque for his top-25 finish and classmate Trevor Belding (27th, 17:55) was close behind. Severn and Belding displaced the 4th and 5th men of each team in the rest of the field, adding to their scores. West placed all seven varsity runners in the top 37% of the field.
West returns to action on Saturday at the Central Bucks East Invitational, held this year at CB South due to stadium construction.
