Birthday buddy (today!) and classmate Brian Iatarola also wasted no time, throwing down with a 4:50 first mile and hanging tough to place 6th overall in a 16:26 PR and edge his regretful coach. Rock and Brian went 1-2 in the 15-19 age group. Rock won a dutch apple pie for the family. Brian earned a pint glass which he plans to use for skim milk.
Rounding out the top five to seal the 2014 team title over William Tennent and New Hope Solebury were junior Declan McDonald (16:45, PR), sophomore Brian Mass (17:00, PR), and senior Ben Severn (17:02, PR).
Seniors Andrew Baker (17:12, PR) and Trevor Belding (17:21) were the Bucks' sixth and seventh men. Sophomore Teagan Fortna (17:22), junior Logan Mazullo (17:23, PR), and sophomore Alec Hofer (17:26, PR) piled in to close out the top ten.
Senior Ian Davies (17:40) was close behind, just ahead of sophomore Mark McClenahan (17:43, PR).
Other PRs were posted by senior Matt Belding (18:01), junior Carter Zerweck (18:05), senior Tyler Press (18:15), sophomore John Smith (20:10 - top new guy!), senior Evan Henrich (20:47), freshmen Jack McCausland (21:10) and Vlad Pishnenko (21:22), sophomores Damian Refice (21:30) and Joe Manetta (22:14), and freshman Riley Warren (23:10).
Special thanks to Mary and Jon Severn for throwing a low-cost shut-down-the-town-and-have-us-a-race-and-meal wholesome community event (500+ registrants!) and to their brave parents for opening their home for 32 boys to use their only bathroom at 7:30 am.
The Bucks return to action at 6:00 pm Friday on the grass hills of Pennridge High School for a friendly 5k scrimmage.
