CB West showed their dominance once again in the relays, winning all three. The 4x800 got another victory with Nico Metzler's leadoff (1.56.4) debut followed by Matt McGarvey (1:55.8), Matt Bee (1:58.1) and Connor Manley (1:57.2). Their time of 7:48.08 also broke the SOL meet record. The 4x100 relay of Dan Ernst, Bill Bell, Greg Branch, and Rashaad Williams won the event with a time of 42.77. The 4x400 relay of Connor Manley, Matt Bee, Austin Kline, and Matt McGarvey took first place with a time of 3:22.86.
The distance runners stepped in their respective events. In the 3200, Alex Predhome & Chris Berry crushed their own personal records, both breaking the 10:00 barrier for the first time finishing 2-4 and running 9:44.68 and 9:57.70 respectively. Predhome's time also qualifies him for a spot at the District One Championships. Also hitting a district qualifying time for the first time was Nico Metzler in the 1600 with another big personal record running a district qualifying time of 4:26.94 and finished in 5th place.
The manimals (mid-distance) crew showed their dominance on the track. After many attempts at a school record in the 400 meter dash, Connor Manly finall dipped below 49 seconds, running 48.71 to take first place. The time is not only good for a school record but the SOL meet record as well. Austin Kline also stepped up in the 400, finshing in 8th place with a personal best of 52.43. In the 800, Manley was victorious again followed closely by Matt McGarvey and Matt Bee, running 1:55.40, 1:55.96, and 1:56.39 respectively. Nico Metzler also scored in the event running another PR of 1:58.53 finishing in 8th.
Matt Sutorious led the hurdle crew to a successful weekend, winning the 110 high hurdles with a time of 14.58 seconds. Ian Kerr was 5th in the event running 15.28 seconds. Sutorius and Kerr also finished 7-8 respectively in the 300 intermediate hurdles running 40.76 and 40.96.
Dan Ernst led the sprinters with a victory in the 200 meter dash in a winning time of 22.16. Rashaad Williams was second in 22.25 and Greg Branch finished 5th in 22.85. Ernst, Williams, and Branch also went 2-3-7 in the 100 meter dash running 11.11, 11.20, 11.48 respectively.
The pole vaulters were the highlight in the field with a 3-4-7 finish of Corey Smith, Nate Copper, and Mikey DeMarco. Smith and Copper both vaulted to district qualifying performances of 13 feet. Jon Letts finished 5th in the high jump with a leap of 5'10" and took 4th in the javelin with a toss of 149'11". Will Fernandez finished 7th in the javelin throwing 142'11".
The CB West Boys' Track & Field team will look to qualify numerous athletes to the PIAA State Championship as they travel to Coatesville for the District One Championships on Thursday and Friday.
