Junior Shawn Young earned a hard-fought 2nd place against one of Pennsylvania's finest athletes to blaze a huge PR of 41.0 in the intermediate hurdles.
West was then outpaced in the 4x800 run and 100 meter dash. Down 18-5 on the track, Nico Metzler, Alex Predhome, and Chris Berry went 1-2-3 in the mile, earning nine points back. In the following event, Austin Kline ran a district-qualifying 50.9 in the 400 meters. Fellow Junior
Ethan Long outleaned his competitor to add another vital three points to the Bucks' score.
The Titans rallied back to win the 4x100 relay, but Young charged with fellow Junior Jimmie Kilgannon in the 110 meter high hurdles to place first and third.
One of the most impressive performances of the day came in the 800 meter run. West Seniors Nico Metzler and Ben Smith doubled back from the mile and 4x800 respectively to defeat state medalist Ryan Dickson of CB South, earning a huge eight points toward the Bucks' effort.
Junior Greg Branch followed with a district-qualifying 2nd place performance of 22.5 in the 20 meter dash.
Berry and Predhome teamed up again to pile on another eight points to the Bucks score in the two mile run with their 1-2 punch.
The Titans had the last word on the track, winning the 4x400, despite impressive triples by Long (52.1), Smith (51.6), and Kline (51.3). The Bucks left the track nervously ahead by a scant seven points, 40-47.
Junior Will Fernandez and Senior Burgess Bryant came through for West in the throws, launching a pair of 160 foot gems lead a sweep in the javelin throw!
Seniors Corey Smith and Mikey DeMarco then followed suit, remaining rock-solid in the very challenging windy weather to place 1-2 in the pole vault.
DeMarco then came up big by winning the last event of the day, the triple jump, with a monster PR of 39'4" in the finals, sealing the 76-74 victory in the Bucks first dual meet.
Congratulations to all athletes on a team performance that will not soon be forgotten.
The Bucks return to action at home against Souderton on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
